The BEAMcast User Guide will help get you started using BEAMcast. It is divided into 11 chapters so single chapters can be viewed one at a time. All major features and services are covered clearly and concisely.

1. Signing Up For BEAMcast 
Before you can begin using BEAMcast, you must first register an email address and personal password for yourself. This is completely FREE and only needs to be done once.
Follow these step-by-step instructions:

Step 1. Using a web browser program, navigate to the BEAMcast website by entering the following text in the address box
at the top of your screen:

Step 2. Hit the Enter key on your keyboard. After a short delay, the BEAMcast welcome page will appear on your screen:

Step 3. With your mouse, click on the words Sign Up For Free:

Step 4. The following form will appear:
Using your mouse, click in one of the blank boxes and then type-in the appropriate information using your computer
keyboard... then move to the next blank box until all of the necessary information has been filled-in. Please note that ALL
of the boxes MUST be filled in.

Step 5. To indicate your Salutation and Private or Public Practice, use your mouse to click on one of the “radio buttons”
to make your selec/on.

Step 6. To indicate your Occupation, Location of Practice and Organization, use the mouse to click on the button to the
right of each blank field. Clicking this button will display a “pull-down menu” of choices. Click on any selection in the list to highlight your choice:

Step 7. In the Password field, enter a secret password that you will be able to remember later (this is similar to the P.I.N.
number for a bank card). It can be any combination of letters and numbers. Remember that passwords are CASE SENSITIVE,
so (for example) abc123 and ABC123 are NOT the same password!

Step 8. Once you have entered a password, enter it again in the Confirm Password field.

Step 9. Finally, to complete your registration, you must agree to the BEAMcast Terms and Conditions of Use:
To signify that you have read and agree to the Terms and Conditions of Use, use your mouse to click in the check box below the Terms and Conditions of Use,
and then click the Register button:

NOTE: You will not be allowed to continue to the next step and use BEAMcast until you have filled in ALL of the information
on the form. If there is an error message, that means you didn’t answer every question. The error message will highlight the
information you forgot to fill in in red. Enter the missing information, and (again) click on the Register button when you are
done.

2. Logging In To BEAMcast 
Once you have signed-up for BEAMcast (see the previous section), you must “log in” every time you want to use the site. To log in, follow these step-by-step instructions:.

Step 1. Using a web browser program, navigate to the BEAMcast website by entering the following text in the address box
at the top of your screen:

Step 2. Hit the Enter key on your keyboard. The BEAMcast welcome page will appear on your screen.

Step 3. At the top of the page, you will see a button labelled Log In and two boxes labeled Email and Password. Using your
mouse, click in the boxes and enter the email address and the password you used when you signed up for BEAMcast.
Passwords are always case sensitive, so make sure you type it exactly the way you typed it when you signed up.
Note that when you enter your password, small dots will appear instead of the characters you are typing. This is normal, to prevent others who may be watching from seeing your password. -
Step 4. Click on the LOGIN button.
A!er a short delay, the BEAMcast main screen should appear.

If you have problems:
If you made a mistake entering your email address and/or password, the following error message will appear:
If you see this message, it is usually because you typed your email address or your password incorrectly. Re-enter your
email address and password information and click Log In to try again.
If this error keeps happening, you are not entering your information EXACTLY the same way you entered it when you first signed up for BEAMcast. If you are unable to determine what you are doing wrong, click on the Forgot your password? link above the Log In button. You will be asked to enter your email address and you will will be automatically sent a new password via email. -
HINT:
If you use BEAMcast frequently and want to avoid having to enter your email address and password every time, click in the Remember Me checkbox:
If you check-off this option, the next time you visit the BEAMcast site from the same computer, your email address and password will be automatically filled-in for you!

3. The BEAMcast Dashboard 
After logging in to BEAMcast with your username and password, the Dashboard page will appear. This is your home base, allowing you direct access to BEAMcast’s extensive library of video content and numerous features. Take a moment to take familiarize yourself with the features of the Dashboard and what you can do with BEAMcast.

4. Finding Your Way Around BEAMcast 
Most of BEAMcast’s features and content can be accessed by simply clicking on the appropriate link with your mouse pointer. Links are like control panel buttons, except they can look like titles, text (usually underlined), pictures, or even parts of the screen.
All of the links on BEAMcast are in the form of text, so clicking on a heading or an item on a list will usually do what the text says.
You will know when your mouse is pointing at a link when the cursor arrow turns into a pointing finger:
If you get lost or click on the wrong link, you can backtrack at any time by clicking the left arrow button at the top of the web browser window:
You can return directly to the main Dashboard screen at any time by clicking on the Dashboard link which is always located at the top right corner of every page:
Finally, remember that it is impossible to do anything wrong on the BEAMcast website, so feel free to click on links and explore without fear of “breaking” anything. Experiment and have fun!

5. Using The Index 
The Index is located at the bottom of the Dashboard. It’s basically a list of categories (referred to as “rounds”) available on the BEAMcast site.
Beside every category listed in the index is a small number in square brackets. This number represents the number of individual videos (referred to as “events”) that are available for viewing in that category.
Clicking on a category (round) in the Index will bring up a new page with a list and brief description of each of the videos (events) that are available for viewing in that particular category.
To watch a video, simply click on its title or click on the watch events online link underneath the description. This will bring up the video player window:

6. Video Player Controls 
Similar to a VCR, the video player allows you to pause, fast-forward, rewind, and control the sound volume of any video you are watching by simply clicking on the appropriate button on the control panel at the bottom of the player.

7. Using BEAMcast's Search Function 
BEAMcast’s Search function allows you to search for videos by using “key words”. For example, if you are interested in seeing a list of all videos related to “cardiology”, simply click in the Search box and type Cardiology, then click on the Find Events button.
A list of all videos with the word “Cardiology” in their title and/or description will appear. You can narrow your search by typing more than one word in the Search box. For example, typing the words “Cardiology” and “Pediatric” into the Search box will narrow your search to events that contain both words... and so-on.
Click on any of the titles in the SEARCH RESULTS for detailed descriptions and/or to watch any of the videos.

8. Automatic Notifications 
BEAMcast has the ability to send you automatic notifications whenever new event videos are added to the site in categories that you are interested in. BEAMcast can notify you by email or as a message whenever you log in to the BEAMcast site.
To begin receiving automatic notifications, click on the Edit Notifications link located near the top right of every page:
The NOTIFICATIONS page will appear:
To turn on or turn off automatic notifications, simply click in the check boxes beside the rounds categories that interest you.
To receive messages whenever you log in to the BEAMcast website, check off items in the BEAMcast Site column; and to receive automatic emails messages, check off items in the Email column.
Advanced users can also receive automatic alerts on their mobile device by checking off boxes in the RSS Feed column.
Clicking on the select all checkbox at the top of any column will automatically check off ALL of the items in that column.
Clicking on it again will un-check all items in that column.
Finally, to confirm your selections and begin receiving notifications, click the Save Changes button.

9. Keeping Track Of What You’ve Viewed 
BEAMcast keeps track of the videos you’ve watched and whether or not you’ve played them all the way through to the end.
To see a list of events you’ve already watched, click on the See Viewed Events link located near the top right of every page:
The Viewed Events page will appear:
The word Completed below each event listing indicates that you have finished watching through the video. If you want to watch the video again, click on the view again link.
If the word Incomplete appears below any of the event listings, it indicates that you have not watched the video through to the end. If you want to resume watching the video, click on the resume link.

10. Editing Your Personal Information 
The personal information you provided when you signed-up for BEAMcast is called your “profile” and this information can be changed or edited at any time. You can also change your BEAMcast password and/or your email address.
To edit your profile, click on the edit your profile link near the top right of the BEAMcast screen:
The EDIT MY PROFILE page will appear, which is identical to the form you filled-in when you first signed up for BEAMcast.
Once you have finished editing your personal information, click on the Save Profile button to confirm your changes.

Help is available by clicking on one of the links in the Help section on the right side of the BEAMcast screen, or by clicking on the Help link at the top right of every page.
